1,900 islands rise from the ocean at Ha Long Bay. Inside several of these islands are huge caves. The bay is also home to 1,600 people, who live on floating houses.

More than 200 types of fish swim in the clear waters of the bay. And the islands themselves are home to animals such as monkeys, lizards, and antelope. It's no wonder that Ha Long Bay is regarded as one of the most beautiful bays in the world.

Visiting Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay is about four hours by car or bus from Hanoi. Many travel companies and hotels, however, offer one- or two-day tours of the bay. These tours usually include transportation, meals, a guide, and a place to stay the night. The best time to visit is from March to June.
