A story of an amazing bond
April and her father are going to live on Bear Island for six months for scientific research. Bear Island is a small, remote island in the Arctic Circle. Despite its name, there are no polar bears left on the island, according to her father.
One summer night, April unexpectedly encounters a real polar bear when no one else is around. Although polar bears are usually massive and frightening, this one is weak, starving, and separated from its family. April decides to become friends with the bear and help it survive, but she keeps her new friend a secret from her father.
