Mobile Trash Recycling
The world has a serious problem with plastic waste, which can be hard to recycle, especially in remote places. Taiwan-based company Miniwiz is helping to solve the problem with its new mobile recycling center, which is called the Trashpresso.
At about 12 meters long, the Trashpresso can be set up in remote areas that don't have proper garbage services. The machine cuts up and washes plastics such as water bottles and cups, and then turns the waste into tiles. Each tile is created from five plastic bottles, and Trashpresso can produce about 10 square meters of tiles every 40 minutes.
Since the Trashpresso is meant to be used in remote locations, it is powered entirely by energy from the sun. The water it uses is recycled and reused to further lower its impact on the environment. The Trashpresso has been used in several places, like London and Tibet. The CEO of Miniwiz states that he hopes to show that recycling can be done everywhere.
