From Wimbledon to the Wild

Tennis balls become homes for harvest mice.
Wimbledon is the world's most well-known tennis event that takes place annually in England. Harvest mice, on the other hand, are tiny rodents that make their homes in the grasslands of Britain. While the two may seem unrelated, you might be surprised to learn how they are connected.
Harvest mice are known for building round nests woven from grasses, where females give birth to their young. However, predators, extreme weather, and shrinking habitats have made it more difficult for them to find safe nesting locations. To help address this issue, Wimbledon and The Wildlife Trusts—a network of charities that support and protect wildlife—have been running a conservation program for over two decades.
