The 7)solution to the problem is getting braces (often after 8)removing a tooth or two to 9)create space). This means 10)metal 11)brackets are 12)cemented to teeth. Special 13)wires are put across the brackets and then tightened with tiny 14)elastics. Elastics and wires are changed monthly. Over time, the teeth move with the 15)pressure of the wires and elastics. The 16)crowns of the teeth move very quickly, but braces are usually worn for about two years, because it takes much longer for the roots to move into place. |

Millions of children get braces to correct teeth problems as soon as all their adult teeth are in. In a 17)typical 18)elementary school, it's quite common to see dozens of children with braces. A lot of children are 19)initially self-conscious about " 20)metallic " smiles, but braces are so common that everybody gets used to them after a few weeks. |
