It was a hard job, he took it though.　（這工作很難，但他還是接受了）放在句尾，這個字的發音必須上揚。

或是：Somehow I don't like him. （不知怎麼地我就是不喜歡他。）

Though、somehow、anyway、 nevertheless，這些字經常發生在口語上，看上去好像沒什麼意思，因為這關乎的比較是「口氣」的問題。

構成英文溝通的不只是文法、發音，還有一些是很微妙的轉折，這些轉折，會構成一種氣氛，文法寫作上稱它作語氣，假如側重在口語，我習慣稱它為「口氣」。

語氣比文法還複雜，因為它沒有很明確的規則，感受它比記憶它來得更有效。

請把以下的句子唸三遍，不必刻意記，感覺它比記憶它重要！

1. She studied the English language very well. 或She studied English very well.
   在泛指某一種學科時，不應加冠詞，如：I like history.但如特指某一門學科時則應加冠詞，如：He likes the history of America.
2. There isn't enough coffee.
   當主詞是代名詞時，Enough可以作be動詞的補語，例如：That's enough. It was enough.但其主詞應是名詞時，就應換用上面的句型。
3. The entrance to the cinema is on your right.
   在表示通往某處時entrance後面多用to作介詞。這樣的用法還有key to the door, answer to the question等。
4. We take an exam.
   take part in為"參加"某種活動，運動，而在學科中選擇某一學科學習並進行考試應用take.
5. I practice spoken English in the morning.
   exercise多指運動、訓練，而practice則多指把理論付諸於實踐的練習。
6. I guarantee to pay off his debt. I guarantee (that) I will pay off his debt.
   動詞 guarantee(保證)後不接動名詞，而接不定詞，也可以接that 子句。
7. The event was postponed because of rain.或The event's postponement was due to rain.
   很多人以為because of和due to可以代換，其實並不然。這和這兩組詞的發展有關，"because of"基本上是副詞，是形容動作postponed，而"due to"是形容詞，形容postponement。再看一個例子：His defeat was due to the lottery issue.　He was defeated because of the lottery issue.
