Ethan: What's Taiwanese food like?
Laura: It's very different from the kind of Chinese food that you're used to eating in the West.
Ethan: I suppose there are different types of cooking due to all of the different ethnic groups in Taiwan.
Laura: Yes. The indigenous people, Hakka, and Taiwanese all have their own cuisine. They've probably influenced each other as well.
Ethan: Are there any special dishes?
Laura: Every city has its own special dishes, but if you mean throughout the whole island, there are lots. For example, beef noodles can be found everywhere.
Ethan: And what are these steamed dumplings that I keep hearing about?
Laura: They are dumplings stuffed with pork and green onion and they are very juicy inside. When you have a bite, the soup inside usually bursts out. So they're also called "soup dumplings."
Ethan: What kinds of drinks are popular on the island?
Laura: Oolong tea is Taiwanese people's favorite tea. Tea is not just a drink, but also a part of the culture.
Ethan: Does Taiwan produce its own tea?
Laura: Taiwan probably produces some of the best quality tea in the world. The mountainous terrain and climate here are good for growing tea.

伊森：形容一下台灣料理吧？
蘿拉：和你在西方習慣吃的那種中國菜很不一樣喔。
伊森：我想台灣有這麼多不同的族群，一定也有不同的料理方式。
蘿拉：對啊，原住民、客家人和台灣人都有自己的料理，他們也會互相影響。
伊森：有什麼特別的料理嗎？
蘿拉：每個城市都有自己特有的飲食。不過如果你指的是普遍都有的話，也有很多喔，像牛肉麵就到處都吃得到。
伊森：那人家一直說的那個小籠包是什麼？
蘿拉：那是包了豬肉和青蔥的小包子，內餡非常多汁，一咬下去，裡面的湯汁就會流出來，所以又稱為「湯包」。
伊森：台灣人喜歡喝些什麼？
蘿拉：台灣人最愛喝烏龍茶了。茶已經不只是飲料，也是文化的一部份。
伊森：台灣本身有產茶嗎？
蘿拉：台灣茶的品質可稱得上全球數一數二的，這裡多山的地形和氣候很適合種茶。
