Finding Fortune with New Year's Traditions

New Year's Day marks a time for new beginnings. It's a time to start fresh and leave the last year, with all its problems and worries, behind. All around the world, New Year's Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm, and many countries have their own New Year's traditions. Let's have a look at a few unique ways of celebrating the new year!
In Denmark, the first thing that families do on January 1 is check their doorsteps. It's a Danish tradition to take old dishes and smash them at the doors of friends and family. Finding a big pile of broken dishes on your doorstep on January 1 means that you have many friends and will have good fortune in the new year.
The Greeks have a unique way of ensuring the coming year is a lucky one. They bake a special bread called vasilopita, in which they hide a single coin to symbolize good luck and wealth. The bread is eaten on New Year's Day, and whoever gets the slice with the coin is thought to be in for a lucky and successful year.

元旦代表著新的開始。是個重新開始、把去年所有問題和煩惱拋下的時候。世界各地都會非常熱情地慶祝新年，而且許多國家都有自己的新年傳統。來看一些慶祝新年的獨特方式吧！
在丹麥，家家戶戶在一月一日做的第一件事就是檢查他們的門口台階。把舊盤子拿到親朋好友家門口砸碎是丹麥的一項傳統。一月一日在你家門口台階發現一大堆破碎的盤子表示你有很多朋友而且在新的一年會有好運。
希臘人有獨特的方式確保來年是個吉祥如意的一年。他們會烤一種特別的麵包叫作「新年蛋糕」（vasilopita），在裡面藏一枚象徵好運與財富的硬幣。這種麵包要在元旦時吃，吃到有硬幣那一塊的人被認為會有幸運成功的一年。
