Moses and the Parting of the Red Sea
Long ago, the Hebrews lived in Egypt in such great numbers
that the Egyptian king worried they would take over his country. “Their families will
keep growing larger,” said the king. “And if our country goes to war, they could easily
fight on the side of our enemies.”
The Egyptians made the Hebrews slaves and tried to wear them down.
Even so, the Hebrews still increased in number. “As soon as a Hebrew boy is born, throw him
into the Nile River!” the king ordered. “But you can let the girls live.”

很久以前，希伯來人有如此龐大的人口數住在埃及，以致於埃及國王很擔心他們會接管他的國家。國王說： 「他們的家族會持續成長擴大，而如果我們的國家發生戰爭，他們可以輕易地站在我們敵人那邊作戰。」
