Mother's Day is coming up. |
| E: |
Yes, it's this Sunday. What are you going to do for your mom? |
| D: |
I'm going to get her a bouquet of flowers because I know she'll love that. Then, I was thinking about making her lunch. What do you think I should cook? |
| E: |
How about taking her out to lunch so that you won't have to bother cooking? |
| D: |
I'm afraid restaurants might be fully booked for Mother's Day by now. Plus, it'll mean more to her to know that I put an effort into cooking. |
| E: |
Yeah, you're right. (Thinking) Didn't you tell me that your mom likes steak? Make that for her, and maybe a dessert. |
| D: |
That's a good idea. Steak should be easy enough. How should I prepare it? In the oven? On the stove? |
| E: |
Either way is fine, I think. You can cook it on the stove, in the oven, or even over a grill, if you have one. Just make sure not to burn it. |
| D: |
For dessert, I'll bake a carrot cake. She's never tried that before. |
| E: |
Carrot cake sounds complicated. Do you have all the ingredients already? |
| D: |
I need to buy carrots. But I have everything else—walnuts, eggs, flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and butter. |
| E: |
I think your mom's going to have an amazing Mother's Day. |
| D: |
I hope you're right. |

| 戴夫： |
母親節要到了。 |
| 艾蜜莉： |

那是個好主意。牛排應該夠簡單了。我應該要怎麼料理呢？用烤箱嗎？還是用爐子？ |
| 艾蜜莉： |
我想兩種方式都可以。你可以在爐子上用煎的或用烤箱烤，如果你有烤架的話，也可以用烤架烤。只要確保不要燒焦就好。 |
| 戴夫： |
至於甜點，我要烤紅蘿蔔蛋糕。她以前沒嚐過那個。 |
| 艾蜜莉： |
紅蘿蔔蛋糕聽起來很複雜耶。所有食材你都已經有了嗎？ |
| 戴夫： |
我需要買紅蘿蔔。但其他材料我都有了：核桃、雞蛋、麵粉、肉桂、泡打粉和奶油。 |
| 艾蜜莉： |
我想你媽媽會有個精彩的母親節的。 |
| 戴夫： |
